    BUILD PHASE

Lee sets a resource and recruits Mastermind exello in the hidden area before passing his build.

Mark sets a resource and Flips up Wild ride, searching for Dagger and losing 1 endurance before using her effect (discarding her) to fetch midnight sons. He then recruits Alfred in the front row and passes.

    COMBAT PHASE

Lee sends mastermind exello into alfred for a 1-sided stun.

    RECOVERY PHASE

Mark recovers Alfred.

        TURN 2 (Mark Initiative)

    BUILD PHASE

Mark sets a resource and recruits Black Panther in the hidden Area. he then flips up midnight sons teaming up Marvel Knights and Gotham Knights and activates Alfred, returning him to his hand to search out Ultimate Nullifier, one way trip. Equipping it to Black Panther before passing.

Lee gives a suspecting glance at Aaron innocently writing the batrep.
"Yeah, so I coached him a bit. So what?"

Lee activates Mastermind exello, discarding Hulk, grumpy
 green goliath, which Mark negates with nullifier.
Lee then sets a resource and recruits Miek, the unhived in his visible front row.

    COMBAT PHASE

mark passes combat.

Lee swings direct with Miek for 4.

    RECOVERY PHASE

        TURN 3 (Lee Initiative)

    DRAW PHASE
(Both Players draw 2 cards)

    BUILD PHASE


Lee sets a resource, and shifts a vision with 1 counter. Then he shifts a second Vision with 1 counter. and uses the first Vision's effect without interruption to draw 2, immediately using the second vision to draw 2 more. He laughs and shifts a third vision. Koing it to draw 2 more. Then he equips a reality gem on Miek (discarding an Avalon Space Station) targetting Midnight sons. and chaining mastermind exello (discarding Hulk Gladiator) to draw 2, Mark opts to use the Ultimate Nullifier on the Reality Gem Trigger, negating it.

After Lee passes, Mark sets a resource and flips up Midnight sons, this time teaming-up Marvel Knights and Fantastic 4, recruiting Invisible woman, the invisible girl in the visible front row and equipping her with a Utility Belt. He sighs and passes, unwilling to let miek swing on any other target than invisible woman.

    COMBAT PHASE


Lee declares an attack with Miek into Invisible Woman. She removes her invisibility counter to negate the attack.

Both players then pass.

        TURN 4 (Mark Initiative)

    DRAW PHASE

(Both Players draw 2 cards)

    BUILD PHASE

Mark  Discards Dagger to fetch Midnight Sons, sets and flips it teaming-up marvel Knights and Fearsome 5, He recruits Alfred and then plays Wild Ride searching for Shimmer, losing 2 endurance and recruiting her in the front row visible area protecting Alfred before recruiting Micro-Chip in the front row and passing.

Lee sets a resource, and recruits The Captain behind Miek and passes.

    COMBAT PHASE

The Captain gains the name Hulk and Lee draws a card.

Mark activates Shimmer (exhausting up to 5 characters) Lee responds activating Mastermind Exello (discarding Hulk, Green Skar) wanting to draw 2 cards, but Invisible woman negates teh activated effect thanks to utility Belt.
Mark then debates declaring Micro Chip into Miek to trigger miek and negate him after koing himself.
Lee Disagrees with how that would resolve.

*****RULES DISPUTE!*****

Lee argues Mieks trigger is stunning, and Koing him is part of resolving the triggered effect placed onto the chain. Meaning that if Ultimate Nullifier negates Mieks trigger, he will simply remain in play stunned.

Mark argues that without the KO there is no triggered effect.

Let's look at the relevant rules!

502.1
Triggered powers are identified by the words “at the start of,” “when,” or “whenever.” Triggered powers wait for their trigger events to occur, at which point they trigger. Triggered powers generate triggered effects on the chain.

So in the case of Miek, his trigger EVENT is Becoming stunned, not KOing himself. KOing himself actually falls under RESOLVING effects.

508.2i If an effect has an “if” clause in its text, the effect looks to see if an “if” condition is true as it is resolving.

This is perfectly in-sync with Miek's "if you do" effect resolution

This means that Ultimate nullifier can indeed prevent Miek's effect which is essentially ritten as: When this happens -> DO THIS. However Miek will remain in play having been unable to remove itself from the game.

Based on this revelation, Mark passes combat.

Lee plays Righteous Anger from his Row, stunning The Captain and recovering and readying him. Swinging him into Invisible Woman for an easy stun before passing.


    RECOVERY PHASE

Mark recovers Invisible Woman.

        TURN 5 (Lee Initiative)

    DRAW PHASE

(Both Players draw 2 cards)

    BUILD PHASE

Lee sets a resource and flips up Avalon Space Station, activating it (discarding Archangel, champion) to grab Hulk, grumpy green goliath. recruiting it in the front row and forming the captain behind it. He passes.

Mark activates alfred, returning him to his hand to search out Wild ride, playing it to grab dagger, discarding her to get Midnight sons. Then setting Midnight Sons flipping it up and teaming up Marvel Knights and Teen Titans. He then activates Microship, Koingit to flip down the wild ride in his row, playing that to fetch Mr fantastic and losing 2 endurance. he activates Mr. Fantastic (revealing Mr fantastic, catcher's Mitt, a child named valeria and cosmic radiation) placing the catchers mitt into his hand and recruiting it onto Mr. fantastic. He then recruits Alfred behind shimmer and passes.

    COMBAT PHASE

The captain gains the name captain hulk mastermind exello and draws a card.

Lee swings with Mastermind exello into Invisible Woman and Mark plays A Child Named Valeria from his hand. Lee then sends Miek into shimmer. dealing no breakthrough and getting stunned, triggering both Miek's triggered effect and the triggered effect of Reality Gem.
Mark exhausts Black Panther, using the nullifier to negate Miek's effect. Reality gem returns to Lee's hand.
Lee continues swinging Grumpy Hulk into Shimmer to gain a +1/+1 counter and passes.

Mark passes.

    RECOVERY PHASELee recovers Miek.

        TURN 6 (Mark Initiative)

    BUILD PHASE


Mark sets a resource and recruits plays Bat-Signal from his hand exhausting Mr. Fantastic to search his deck for Garth, recruiting him in the support row  and activating Alfred, spinning him back to hand to fetch war wagon and equipping war wagon on Shimmer before re-recruiting Alfred before passing.

Lee sets a resource and uses Avalon (discarding Mystique, raven) to grab Archangel and HUlk, gladiator, then boosts gladiator into play, KOing grumpy hulk targetting Black Panther for the stun. Mark chains Garth's effect paying 3 to fetch and replay A Child Named Valeria, effectively negating the stun attempt.
Then Lee equips reality gem onto Miek (discarding Archangel) to target the fantastic 4 team-up. mark activates Ultimate nullifier, exhausting Black Panther to negate the gems effect.

Both players then pass to combat.

    COMBAT PHASE

The Captain gains the name Archangel, becoming captain hulk mastermind archangel, and draws Lee a card.

Mark activates shimmer to exhaust up to 6 characters. mark chains mastermind exello;s effect to return him to his hand. Mark negates with Invisible woman's utility belt and passes.

Lee considers his hand for a moment and passes as well.

    RECOVERY PHASE

        TURN 7 (Lee Initiative)

    DRAW PHASE
(Both Players draw 2 cards)

    BUILD PHASE


Lee sets a resource and [;ays Enemy of my Enemy from his row (discarding The Captain) to search out Hulk, sakaar son and then recruits it. KOIng gladiator to uniqueness, forming Hulk protecting the captain and adjacent to Miek, and then passing.

Mark sets a resource and recruits Roy Harper in the support row, adjacent to garth. then activates alfred to fetch cosmic radiation and re-recruits alfred. The exhausting black panther, mr fan, invis woman, shimmer and roy to roy's effect, putting him at 14 ATK and playing cosmic radiation. Lee chains Mastermind Exello, to return it to his hand. exello spins and the 6 exhausted characters ready.
mark then activates alfred to grab a second cosmic and re-recruits him (2 unspent resources left) and flips up a Common cause, from his row, exhausting Mr fantastic, to crossover all his relevent team affiliations. (Marvel knights, fan 4, frearsome 5, teen titans and gotham knights)
He then exhausts invisible woman, and black panther for roy's effect (18 ATK) and Uses Roy Harper's activated effect, (KOing wild ride) targetting Hulk, sakaar son for a stun.
Lee plays Pathetic Attempt from his row. Mark plays Fizzle from his hand (discarding an Alfred) to negate the PA. Lee chains his most recent resource played and flips and activates Great Arena, exhausting Hulk, targetting Garth. Mark plays Press the Attack from his hand targetting Black Panther. Lee chains Righteous Anger from his hand. Mark chains Roy harper's payment effect exhausting Shimmer for another 2 ATK. mark then chains Cosmic Radiation from his hand. and both players finally pass chaining.
Cosmic resolves readying everyone except the already readied Garth.
Roy gains his attack from shimmer (20 ATK) and Mark opts to chain to the resolving Righteous anger instead of allow it to resolve activating roy AGAIN (KOing the GK teamup midnight sons)
Lee unloads several explicatives and passes. Roy resolves, HUlk stuns righteous anger cannot fulfill it's "if you do" clause and does nothing. Mark chains to the press exhausting Black Panther to give Roy +2 attack. resolving roys effect (22 ATK) and then readying Black Panther, Who activates to negate the great arena activation.
Finally Fizzle Resolves, negating Lee's Pathetic Attempt.

Mark then activates Shimmer's war wagon, KOing Hulk and dealing its cost as damage to Lee. Tapped out Lee passes and Hulk KO's. Invisible woman and Mr. fantastic both Exhaust to pump roy (26ATK) and Alfred activates to grab a cosmic radiation. Mark then re-recruits Alfred. (1 resource left to spend) and plays the third cosmic radiation readying everything except garth who remains ready. Roy uses his activated effect (KOing midnight sons covering fan 4) to target The Captain. stunning him Shimmer uses War Wagon to ko The Captain for 4 more damage. Black Panther, invisible woman and Mr fantastic fuel Roy with more power. (32 ATK) and alfred activates to grab the last cosmic rad, being re-recruited 1 final time.
Playing thelast Cosmic Radiation, everyone readies (except garth) and exhausts panther invis woman mr fan, and shimmer for roy (40 ATK) and activates Alfred spinning him to his hand to grab Team Tactics. he then pays 3 from Garth to get cosmic radiation from the KO pile. and activates Roy, KOing a midnight sons covering the Fearsome 5 teamup) to stun Miek. And chaining Cosmic radiation. Cosmic readiation resolves, readying everyone except the ever-ready Garth, Miek stuns, and Shimmer chains War Wagon to his effect, KOing him before Lee can.

This draws more explicatives. Invisible Woman and Mr Fan exhaust for roys Atk (44 ATK) and finally Mark passes his build phase.


    COMBAT PHASE

Lee passes.

Mark declares an attack direct with Garth. Once legal, playing Team tactics exhausting Roy to put Garth at 53 ATK, swinging for game.



    RECOVERY PHASE

    Both Guns Blazing -> 28    Hulk Smash -> -35

Thoughts:

Lee - Mark played maybe the tightest game i've seen him play in a long time. Having a starting hand allowing ultimate nullifier was annoying, following up with a utility belt to negate mastermind also sucked.

Mark - So I felt like I threw the game when I learned Ultimate Nullifier didnt allow Miek to leave play when it negates his triggered effect. If I had grabbed an early war wagon I could have just one and done'd Miek's effect with chained KO, but the reality gem caught me off guard. So the Nullifier ended up saving my life. All game i was sure he was going to flip up an Imperial Dreadnaught, but completely forgot this other version didn't run it at all.
